Weapon progression and customization

Progression tracks

Unlock and access

The Gunsmith unlocks at DMZ Player Level 10. Buy compatible parts or another weapon with DMZ Cash when its selected requirement is met. A Weapon Manual is one documented route; the later shared-progression wording and its limits are explained below.

Attachments and slot purchases

Leveling weapons in Multiplayer or DMZ unlocks compatible attachments across both modes. Buy slots and parts separately with DMZ Cash. Standard Gunsmith builds support up to five regular attachments; looted Hajin weapons can have up to eight attachment slots. Slots accept a compatible attachment of any type, can be purchased in any order and become progressively more expensive. Apex-slot access is free once weapon progression grants it; that does not mean purchasing every Apex part is free. Launchers have neither regular nor Apex attachments.

Weapon categories at launch

Choose from Assault Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns, LMGs, Marksman Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Pistols and Launchers. Compatible attachment categories depend on the weapon.

Gunny — build assistance

Ask Gunny to put together a weapon build if you are unsure how to configure it. Build what you can afford, then return to add or replace attachments. Consider a backup Primary or Secondary weapon for different encounters.

Gunsmith discount

A 5% Gunsmith purchase discount upgrade unlocks at DMZ Player Level 25. Use the 3D Printer for its upgrade requirements.

Blueprints

An owned Weapon Blueprint supplies one free instance through the DMZ Gunsmith. The developer’s example is Beta Forged, a Han 86 Assault Rifle Blueprint awarded for completing the MW4 Beta. If lost in deployment, that instance is gone permanently; buy another with DMZ Cash at a discount compared with building the same weapon. This rule applies to owned Blueprints generally. Vault Edition’s Signature Weapon Collection initially appears in the DMZ inventory and lists:

Base weaponBlueprint
Kastov 762Voltspine
ISO NightshadeLa Sombra Venenosa — The Poisonous Shadow
Rezi 12Shattered Code
Oris 8.6Volt-Edge
Combat KnifeSombra Besada — Shadow’s Kiss

The collection’s firearm Blueprints have five attachments plus an Apex attachment; the Combat Knife is the exception. Losing the initial Vault instance leaves the discounted Gunsmith replacement route.

Shared weapon progression

The Progression menu shows levels, attachment unlocks and Camos; the example M4 has 72 levels. Shared Attachments unlock once across compatible weapons. If a level would grant an attachment already owned, a Bonus Level Up skips that level. Apex access comes after all weapon levels; Weapon Prestige is also available. These weapon rules are separate from Operator Prestige.

Weapon acquisition

Acquire weapons from a Free Loadout, your Stash, the Gunsmith or Vendor, or by looting during deployment. Picking up a weapon provides that instance; shared unlocks and extracted Manuals govern purchase access. Purchases still require DMZ Cash.

M4 cart example

The illustrated build includes Schlager Dogfight GI optic (4,512), FSS IS300 muzzle (9,025), 16-inch Highmark Barrel (4,512), FSS TAC90 Grip underbarrel (4,987) and PF1 Fixed Stock (5,700), plus separate fourth-slot (25,000) and fifth-slot (50,000) charges. It shows a 5% Gunsmith discount and 99,987 Build Cost. The subtotal display must be treated as this preview sample, not silently recalculated into a universal price. The selected configuration shows 810 RPM, 30 rounds and 90 reserve; attachments can alter performance. Individual weapon/attachment records and precise crops retain the details.

Beta Forged and later station views

The Blueprint graphic identifies Beta Forged as a Han 86 Assault Rifle. Its displayed example is 116,750 Build Cost, 740 RPM, 30 rounds and 60 reserve. These are Blueprint-screen values, not base Han 86 statistics. The later four-panel image shows alternate workbenches without specifying their unlock order.

Weapon Prestige

At maximum weapon level, enter Weapon Prestige to reset to Level 1. Apex and Blueprint attachments remain available, shared attachments stay unlocked on other guns, and owned cosmetics are retained.

Build codes and purchase costs

Use Import Weapon Build Code to load a shared configuration. Review compatibility, unlocks and the cart before purchasing; importing a configuration does not make its parts free.

The cart separates the base weapon, attachment parts and attachment-slot charges, and shows any applicable discount and the total Build Cost. Confirm the purchase after reviewing those charges.

Attachment slot costs

GameSpot reports paying for attachment slots as well as individual attachments during review-event play, with later slots costing more. Exact prices have not been verified; one expensive weapon build is not a universal weapon price.

A Recipe entry unlocks printing; it is separate from receiving a ready-made item. Main Player/Multiplayer ranks do not establish a DMZ recipe, purchase price or loot restriction.

Weapon unlock and purchase requirements

Weapon Manuals provide a documented permanent repeat-purchase route after extraction. The later official arsenal guide also describes Gunsmith access from shared Multiplayer/DMZ weapon progression, paid with DMZ Cash. These descriptions do not fully settle every access path. Inspect the selected weapon’s requirement and price; carrying a looted gun is separate from unlocking repeat purchases.

Official launch updates

2026-10-23 — Player Prestige and Weapon Prestige cannot be performed while matchmaking. The patch clarifies the UI; it does not make either progression track Operator-specific.

2026-10-23 — The publisher explicitly distinguishes DMZ weapon tuning from Multiplayer. It plans later tuning and says some Beta seasonal Apex/attachments will return in later events, without naming every affected item. Do not import Multiplayer damage values or assume all Beta attachments are available now.

2026-10-24 — The publisher reports fixing DMZ Cash being deducted when applying Camos or Reticles in the DMZ Gunsmith. It does not publish a replacement fee; do not turn the bugged deduction into a normal cosmetic cost.

2026-10-24 — The patch corrects DMZ Weapon Builds being shown as usable in core Multiplayer, non-melee weapons entering the Melee slot, and attachment resets failing after Prestige in Gunsmith. Shared weapon identity does not make mode-specific saved builds interchangeable.
