Overview
Playground Games’ Forza Horizon 6 takes players to Japan and launched on May 19, 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC. PlayStation 5 owners will have access January 26, 2027, with Premium early entry on January 21. Playground says the map includes more than 550 real cars, including JDM classics.
Horizon Legend status and Legend Island unlock after seven Festival Wristbands in a progression path that runs alongside free exploration of places like mountains and docks. The player arrives as an aspiring festival entrant rather than a Horizon superstar, with two fellow competitors to watch out for. Playground says Tokyo is its largest city so far.
The game includes Street Races, Time Attack Circuits and Car Meets in addition to Festival events. You can explore the countryside and Tokyo’s streets at your own pace. Playground says Festival races use car themes and restrictions. JDM classics appear alongside rare Aftermarket Cars that players can test-drive or buy.
Progressing through the Horizon Festival
Completing the Qualifiers and the Horizon Invitational earns your first Wristband. Further Wristbands lead to access to more races. The campaign is playable solo or cooperatively; Playground says shared car culture means you can drive with friends rather than needing opponents for every race.
The Estate is a mountain valley where players can build and decorate freely. Collecting stamps unlocks opportunities to buy Player Houses, find Barn Find Rumors and access the Estate. Player Houses have customizable garages to display your collection, and cars can be tuned or fitted with body kits. The Festival Playlist becomes available after earning your first Wristband; Playground says it features weekly events with rewards.
What can you do beyond Festival races?
Playground’s campaign guide explains that a Collection Journal tracks discoveries, activity and progress toward prizes like cars. Car Meets give players somewhere to meet before joining a Convoy and driving together. The CoLab toolset lets friends build custom events together in the world.
Which cars can enter Festival races?
Playground says Festival Wristbands are earned through Festival progression, but high-end cars like supercars and hypercars remain restricted for some progression paths. This does not mean you cannot drive them everywhere; Playground’s guide explains that restrictions apply to specific events rather than the whole map.
Forza Horizon 6 is available on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC. The PS5 announcement also confirms cross-platform play and cross-save with Xbox and Steam versions.
