Overview
Insomniac Games’ action-adventure returns Logan after his departure from Team X.
Three years after leaving Team X, Logan returns to save Nathaniel Essex from Bolivar Trask. This narrative-driven adventure takes place in a variety of locations across the globe, but you won’t be able to freely explore them like you would an open world game.
Locations and enemies
Insomniac Games’ action-adventure takes place in a variety of locations across the globe, but it isn’t an open-world game. You’ll be able to explore Telambang’s jungle; Canada’s wintry wilderness and Nathaniel Essex’s Institute; Madripoor’s Low Town Princess Bar, Trask headquarters in High Town; Japan.
As you progress through these stages, you’ll face off against a variety of enemies, including the Reavers led by Omega Red. You’ll also encounter Sabretooth as part of Team X after Logan’s departure from the team.
Combat and Adaptations
Marvel’s Wolverine combat puts your claws into the action with agile leaps, devastating shredding attacks, and Special Techniques that let you adapt on the fly. But how does it all work? Here are the basics of claw fighting, defensive reactions, Rage progression, and choosing adaptations in Insomniac Games’ PS5 adventure.
Wolverine’s combat is built around his signature adamantium claws, use them to slash enemies or shred through obstacles. You’ll also rely on kicks for shorter-range attacks, leaps to close the gap between you and your target, and shredding moves that can damage multiple foes at once.
Beyond those basic options are moves like Parry (deflect incoming strikes), Counterattack (turn an attack into a counterstrike) or Critical Strike (a powerful finisher). These abilities help mix up combat situations when facing different enemies.
Special Techniques can be equipped four at a time and upgraded with Technique Points. Unlocks come through story progress or Logan’s level. Rage builds through aggressive combat across three tiers; Critical Strikes become available at Tier 3.
Adaptations are separate bonuses equipped in Strands. Earning AP raises the Adaptation Level and unlocks more options and slots, with up to ten equipped during a first playthrough. They can be swapped to suit the situation, including defensive bonuses or help finding collectibles.
Exploration rewards
There are also a variety of optional exploration rewards along the way, including Whisky Bottles that grant AP, hidden Nightmare Doors leading to Nightmare Trials, Gauntlet trials rewarding outfit and claw pieces, Material Crates providing crafting materials for suits and progress toward permanent Health upgrades.
Marvel’s Wolverine launched on September 15, 2026, exclusively on PS5.
