Call of Duty has revealed the MW4 DMZ release dates, but there are still a few key details to clarify before you’re ready for the action.

The big news is that MW4 will launch on October 23. DMZ early access falls on October 21 in Australia (Sydney) and New Zealand (Auckland) due to time-zone differences. The mode itself, called DMZ, opens earlier: Tuesday, October 20 at 10 AM Pacific Time.

Campaign early access began October 16 (Pacific date). Here’s everything you need to know about the MW4 release schedule:

When does Modern Warfare 4 launch?

The full game is scheduled for a global release on Friday, October 23. The official PC announcement describes midnight local time; check your storefront for its precise full-release time.

There may still be some technical or server-related delays.

When does MW4 DMZ early access start?

The new mode opens earlier than the full game: Tuesday, October 20 at 10 AM Pacific Time.

That’s a global opening time:

  • Los Angeles: October 20, 10 AM PDT.
  • New York: October 20, 1 PM EDT.
  • UTC: October 20, 5 PM.
  • London: October 20, 6 PM BST.
  • Berlin: October 20, 7 PM CEST.
  • Istanbul: October 20, 8 PM TRT.
  • Sydney: October 21, 4 AM AEDT.
  • Auckland: October 21, 6 AM NZDT.

The official announcement says that all of DMZ will be available on launch day as long as you have the correct edition and platform entitlements.

Which edition includes MW4 DMZ early access?

Digital preorders/prepurchases of Standard Edition are eligible for full access to MW4’s new mode when it opens Tuesday.

Supported platforms are Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Xbox on PC, Battle.net, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2. Console online play also requires the applicable membership: PlayStation Plus, an eligible Xbox online-multiplayer subscription or Nintendo Switch Online.

The Vault Edition adds some cosmetic bonuses like Operator skins but doesn’t give you earlier DMZ access than Standard or a separate launch date.

Physical editions don’t include DMZ early access. Physical-copy players must wait until the October 23 full launch to play the mode with that copy.

A Game Pass subscription alone does not include MW4 at launch; a separate game purchase is required.

Weapon progress during DMZ early access can earn attachments and camos available in Multiplayer at the October 23 launch.

Preloading and the required update

The PC page says preloading was scheduled for October 15 at 9 AM Pacific Time. The required DMZ update was announced for all platforms by October 19 at 9 AM Pacific Time.

Can I play early by changing my region?

The official announcement gives all regions the same global opening time. That means changing your region won’t give you an earlier scheduled start.
