Progression details
Ownership map
| State | Belongs to | Practical meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Main Player rank/XP and Player Prestige | Player | One shared 1–55 career track; not a different rank for each recruited Operator. |
| DMZ Player level/XP | Player DMZ profile | One separate 1–70 track for FOB/reward access, shared across the roster. |
| Bank, Stash, Resource pools, permanent FOB upgrades | Player DMZ profile | Supplies and facilities can support different Operators; equipped items have their own location. |
| Identity/skin access | Player entitlement | Unlocking Reece or a skin is separate from developing a recruited Reece. |
| Slot assignment | Active Duty roster | A slot contains an Operator; it is not the permanent owner of all progress. |
| Dog Tag XP/tier and ordinary Trait build | Individual Operator development cycle | Each recruited Operator earns its own points and has different selected/revealed Traits. |
| Permanent Prestige Traits | Player’s specific Operator identity | Persist through dismissal, a different slot and skin changes; not transferred to the replacement identity. |
| Loadout, Backpack, MIA status | Individual recruited Operator | Gear/readiness differs between Operators; shared Stash is a separate location. |
| Weapon XP/level, attachments and Weapon Prestige | Player + weapon type | Shared MP/DMZ progress, separate from whichever physical copy one Operator carries. |
| Current carried Cash, mission item and map position | Deployment context | Do not save these as persistent Bank balance or a parked Operator’s world location. |
| Orders and Story Mission completion counters | Exact switch/reset scope still unverified | Separate definitions, personal progress, selected deployment activity and each squad member’s credit. |
How XP flows through the four tracks
DMZ activities advance DMZ Player 1–70 and also the main Player 1–55 track. Multiplayer/Warzone XP does not increase DMZ Player level. Using a weapon earns its shared Weapon XP. Separately, the deployed Operator develops Dog Tag XP and earns Trait Points on level-ups after successful exfil. One run can improve more than one track; they are not interchangeable counters or a published fixed-ratio XP formula. A failed exfil still counts toward DMZ Player progress; exact failed-run Dog Tag XP/point handling and per-level thresholds need a controlled result-screen sequence. See Main Player progression, levels1–55, DMZ Progression station, Operator Dog Tags and progression and Combat XP, weapon progression and Camo challenges.
Two starting slots, three with Vault, and the level 15 question
Standard starts with two Active Duty slots; Vault starts with three. The October19 DMZ reward appendix lists +1 Operator Slot at DMZ 15. The inspected sources do not explicitly say whether Vault eventually gets four or simply starts with the same third slot unlocked early. Do not hard-code a universal maximum of three or assume four for every Vault account. Same identity cannot fill two slots at once. Skin changes do not replace the identity or grant a second build. See Active Duty roster.
What is lost, retained or still unverified?
| Action | Affected state | Retained state / limit |
|---|---|---|
| Switch selected Operator | Changes which developed Operator and kit deploy. | Does not itself merge builds or turn shared player progression into per-Operator progression. |
| Change skin | Cosmetic choice on that Operator. | Same identity; permanent Traits explicitly remain. |
| Die and fail to exfil | Operator becomes MIA; unprotected carried gear/loot is lost. | Shared Stash remains at FOB; DMZ Player XP still counts. Secure-slot/protection exceptions have their own conditions. Exact failed-run Dog Tag award is not established. |
| Pay MIA rescue | Deducts Bank Cash; Operator becomes available. | Traits preserved; lost normal gear is not restored. Cost rises with Trait investment; no universal cost formula established. |
| Dismiss and recruit | Start a fresh ordinary Operator build rather than rescuing the current one. | Permanent Prestige Traits stay with their original identity, even when absent from the active roster. Exact ordinary XP/counter reset screen remains untested. |
| Operator Prestige | Requires18 earned points and a non-MIA Operator; resets ordinary Traits; consumes equipped Backpack/Loadout items and tier Cash. | Random permanent Trait for that identity; up to 3. Remove extra items before Prestige. Secure Slots are not documented as a Prestige-sacrifice exemption. |
| Main Player Prestige | Restarts main rank; Classic also resets level unlocks/Create-a-Class, Regular retains them. | Separate system. The announcement does not document a wipe of DMZ Bank, Stash, Orders, level or Operator builds; do not invent such a cascade. |
| Weapon Prestige | Resets that weapon’s level to 1 and relocks standard attachments. | Apex/Blueprint attachments and cosmetics retained; shared attachments stay open on other weapons. Not a sacrifice of an Operator. |
Three Prestige systems with different owners
Main Player Prestige is player-wide: after completing 55, choose Classic or Regular at each of ten Prestige entries, then Prestige Master to 1000. Operator Prestige belongs to one identity: reach 18 earned points, be available, sacrifice the required carried gear and pay 200,000/300,000/500,000 DMZ Cash for the first/second/third-and-later Prestige. Its ordinary Trait cycle restarts; up to 3 permanent Traits remain, with replace-or-discard offers after the third. Weapon Prestige belongs to weapon progression: max weapon level, optional reset to 1 with attachment exceptions, then automatic Weapon Prestige Master after reaching maximum again. These three actions are not one universal reset. Full prerequisites and exceptions remain on Player Prestige: Classic and Regular, Operator Prestige and Weapon Prestige.
